Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Bassey Akpan has raised concerns over the timing of Stanley Nwabali\u2019s contract termination with Chippa United, warning that the move could negatively impact the Super Eagles goalkeeper\u2019s career.<\/span><\/p>\n

Akpan questioned why the decision came after the close of the transfer window, describing it as a risky situation for a goalkeeper of Nwabali\u2019s profile, especially one who is still active at national team level.<\/p>\n

According to Akpan, remaining without a club for several months could affect Nwabali\u2019s match sharpness and visibility ahead of future international engagements.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not the right time for him to terminate his contract. The transfer window has just closed, so why terminate now?<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the decision had been taken before the window opened, he would have had the opportunity to secure another club and continue playing.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not good for a goalkeeper of his stature to be without a team. For a national team goalkeeper, not playing regularly is a serious concern.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe next transfer window is the summer window, around May or June, which means he could be without a club for several months.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnless the termination is due to injury or the need for rehabilitation, the decision is difficult to understand. At the moment, the exact reasons behind his contract termination remain unclear.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nwabali announced his departure from Chippa United last week, confirming that he formally requested to leave the club and that his request was granted.<\/p>\n
