Eni Aluko was involved in a heated studio discussion with Simon Jordan over her ongoing feud with Ian Wright and Laura Woods.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former Lioness Aluko appeared on talkSPORT\u2019s White and Jordan Show on Tuesday to address backlash over her most recent comments<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>about male pundits in women\u2019s football.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Eni Aluko defended herself fiercely live on talkSPORT<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Aluko reignited the debate over the weekend by commenting on the punditry choices for the Women\u2019s Euros final last summer.<\/p>\n

She questioned why she and Fara Williams \u2013 who earned a record 172 caps for England \u2013 were not chosen by either the BBC or ITV.<\/p>\n

This also saw Aluko reignite her feud with Ian Wright, as she highlighted how he and ex-Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha took two of the six available pundit spots.<\/p>\n

It came almost a year after she had accused Wright of \u2018blocking opportunities\u2019 for female broadcasters in April 2025.<\/p>\n

Aluko\u2019s comments sparked huge debate, with former talkSPORT host Laura Woods warning against gatekeeping the sport<\/a> and claiming \u2018caps don\u2019t win automatic work\u2019.<\/p>\n

Clarifying<\/h2>\n

Joining Jim White and Simon Jordan in the talkSPORT studios, Aluko claimed her recent comments had been about advocating for more female faces in punditry, but dismissed suggestions of entitlement.<\/p>\n

She began: \u201cI think it\u2019s more about clarifying and saying look, I think 270 caps represent experience and the insight you can bring to the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I wasn\u2019t saying is that 270 caps justifies an instant pick, of course, you need a skillset to be a pundit.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe point I was trying to make is, that in women\u2019s football, my opinion is that where there\u2019s a choice, I want to see that level of experience on the main panel for women\u2019s football.\u201d<\/p>\n

Laura Woods publicly criticised Aluko\u2019s assessment of male pundits in women\u2019s football, including her comments on Ian Wright[\/caption]<\/p>\n

Explaining the representation she would like to see, Aluko continued: \u201cThat\u2019s not at the exclusion of Nedum Onuoha or Ian Wright. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m saying, can we have a situation where women are the main faces of women\u2019s sport and then the men play more of a supporting role?<\/p>\n

\u201cThat might be\u2026 Ian Wright could do 10-minute hits before the game, a bit of colour, bit of context, then back to the main studio and bang, you\u2019ve got the faces of the game, whoever the three female pundits are.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jordan accuses Aluko of \u2018sense of entitlement\u2019<\/h2>\n

In an explosive interview, talkSPORT host Jordan agreed with Aluko that the main pundit roles in women\u2019s football should go to women.<\/p>\n

But he then questioned Aluko\u2019s ability as a pundit, and accused her of having a sense of entitlement over her comments on Wright not using his influence at ITV to help her land roles.<\/p>\n

Addressing Aluko directly, the ex-Crystal Palace chairman said: \u201cI don\u2019t think you are particularly enlightening, illuminating, engaging or charismatic.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cThe language that you use is, to me, it\u2019s steeped in a sense of entitlement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sheer weight of the entitlement you seem to believe you have would sink the weight of the Titanic. I think you have been quite fortuitous.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think because of initiatives like DEI, they\u2019ve allowed people to be put into positions in the men\u2019s game that I don\u2019t think they have merited. <\/p>\n

\u201cI listened to your observations about Ian Wright, and I\u2019ve known Ian for 25 years \u2013 Ian is not in any shape or form obligated to provide any support structure for you, or give you a sense of entitlement.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019ve been good enough for 11 years\u2019<\/h2>\n

Fighting her case, Aluko cited her 11-year punditry career as proof she is considered strong in her field, having been the first female pundit to appear on Match of the Day in 2014.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cIt\u2019s an opinion, which we\u2019re all entitled to. I put value on them, everybody has them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aluko then continued: \u201cI listen to the professional, the people who have hired me for the last 11 years, the biggest broadcasters in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBy default, if I\u2019m working with the people who are considered brilliant broadcasters. If I\u2019m next to them, then by default I\u2019m considered also a brilliant broadcaster.<\/p>\n

\u201cI appreciate what you\u2019re saying, but in reality, I\u2019ve been good enough for 11 years. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd as I said, I\u2019m the person to go and seek out feedback, for someone to go: \u2018I think you\u2019re struggling\u2019\u2026it\u2019s never happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

Aluko addresses punditry absence<\/h2>\n

Aluko later shut down Jordan\u2019s suggestion that major broadcasters were no longer considering her for punditry roles.<\/p>\n

The ex-Chelsea forward hit back: \u201cHold on, the reason people aren\u2019t booking me is because I\u2019ve taken myself out of the firing line.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy last conversation with ITV was \u2018I\u2019m taking a break from broadcasting\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cThere was two conversations with ITV. There was the conversation after the men\u2019s Euros, which was the end of my contract.<\/p>\n

\u201cI asked about \u2018are we going to renew?\u2019 And they said: \u2018No, we\u2019re sort of cutting budgets, and we\u2019re prioritising Ian Wright and Karen Carney.\u2019 That was a conversation back in the summer of 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was off screen for nine months. We agreed that I would then do the (women\u2019s) Euros. <\/p>\n
