Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued 26 kidnapped victims and recorded multiple operational successes across the Northwest and North-Central.<\/p>\n
The troops also foiled a terrorist attack on a correctional facility and disrupted several terror activities.<\/p>\n
A credible military source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the operational successes were recorded across the theatres in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n
According to the source, in Kaduna State, troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA rescued seven abducted persons during a fighting patrol in Kajuru Local Government Area on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He said the troops acting on actionable intelligence on kidnappers\u2019 movement along the Anguwan Walaha axis engaged the criminals, neutralised one terrorist and forced others to flee in disarray.<\/p>\n
He said that three motorcycles snatched earlier from locals were recovered.<\/p>\n
\u201dIn Katsina State, troops of 17 Brigade rescued a 15-year-old girl abducted from Gidan Bajini village during a fighting patrol around Pauwa Hill in Kankara Local Government Area.<\/p>\n
\u201dThe victim was rescued unhurt and is in military custody for further action.<\/p>\n
\u201dIn Sokoto State, troops of CSI Battalion VII rescued 12 hunters and civilians during a fighting patrol at Kadida village in Tangaza Local Government Area.<\/p>\n
\u201dOne injured civilian was evacuated to hospital, while troops continue to dominate the area to deny terrorists freedom of action,\u201d the source disclosed.<\/p>\n
The source added that the troops foiled an attempted terrorist attack on the Kangiwa Correctional Centre in the Arewa Local Government Area.<\/p>\n
He said the attackers, armed with rifles and riding motorcycles, fled on sighting troops after assaulting a correctional officer and setting ablaze a patrol vehicle and motorcycle within the facility.<\/p>\n
According to him, troops recovered assorted rifles and ammunition, pursued the fleeing terrorists towards the Niger Republic border and reinforced security around the centre.<\/p>\n
He said that sustained kinetic and non-kinetic operations across the regions continue to degrade criminal networks, rescue victims and strengthen public confidence in affected communities. (NAN)
