Among the abundance of defensive options at Chelsea, one star has been backed for a lengthy stay in their back line.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former Blues<\/a> centre-back and talkSPORT\u2019s Jason Cundy has eyed Josh Acheampong as the future go-to guy, despite his sporadic minutes.<\/p>\n

The Cobham academy at Chelsea has an extensive portfolio of talent and many of their graduates have earned first-team experience.<\/p>\n

One of those is Acheampong, who made his senior debut in 2024 and has remained around the first-team set-up ever since.<\/p>\n

In total, he has made 31 appearances for the club, and was involved with their Conference League and Club World Cup success last season.<\/p>\n

But starting XI selections have been inconsistent for the 19-year-old, with only six coming in the Premier League this season.<\/p>\n
