Juventus have made an enquiry over Everton striker Beto, talkSPORT understands<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

However the Toffees<\/a> are reluctant to let the 28-year-old leave in this transfer window.<\/p>\n

The Old Lady have made bringing in a new centre-forward a top priority before the window slams shut on Monday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Luciano Spalletti\u2019s side had looked at signing Crystal Palce\u2019s Jean-Philippe Mateta having held talks with his representaives<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Juve<\/a> were keen on thrashing out a loan deal with the option or obligation to buy at the end of the season.<\/p>\n

But they refused to match the Eagles\u2019 \u00a335million valuation of the France international<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t Bet on it<\/h2>\n

This has led to Juventus to turn to Beto, who has been on Everton\u2019s books since joining for \u00a325.8m from Udinese.<\/p>\n

Though the move seems unlikely with the Merseyside outfit unwilling to sell the player so late in the window without an adequate replacement in place.<\/p>\n

Beto is just one of two senior strikers in Everton\u2019s squad alongside Thierno Barry.<\/p>\n

As has been the case in each of his three seasons so far in England, goals have been hard to come by for the Portuguese-born Guinea-Bissau international.<\/p>\n

His first two seasons yielded five and ten goals respectively in all competitions \u2013 scoring three and eight times in the Premier League.<\/p>\n

And this campaign he is on four strikes, with three of those coming in the top-flight.<\/p>\n

His most recent strike came in Sunday\u2019s 1-1 away draw at Brighton where he poked home in the seventh minute of stoppage time to steal a point for the visitors.<\/p>\n

Beto\u2019s goal had Everton boss David Moyes<\/a> hoping this would kickstart his season after commenting on the player\u2019s struggles.<\/p>\n

He told talkSPORT after the draw: \u201cI\u2019m really pleased for Beto because I say it and it\u2019d be hard to tell you how good he is as a worker.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s doing everything to try and turn his form around. And he lives off goals. He wants to score.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd once you get a goal, sometimes it can just change your fortune a little bit. This time last year when I first came into the club, he went on a brilliant run of goals for me.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope that maybe that one\u2019s going to give him a little bit of feeling that he can do it again.\u201d<\/p>\n
