With Nick Woltemade still struggling to revive his early-season form, Newcastle may have been left to rue over a missed target.<\/strong><\/p>\n

During the summer, Newcastle<\/a> set their sights on the French striker and travelled to Germany for talks with Eintracht Frankfurt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They made an offer that included a \u00a370million guaranteed, but it was Liverpool<\/a> who completed the signing<\/a> with a total \u00a379m deal.<\/p>\n

Newcastle were later dealt another huge blow as the Reds also signed their wantaway forward Alexander Isak<\/a> for a British record \u00a3125m.<\/p>\n

A striker solution was found though, with the Magpies opting to sign Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart in a club-record deal worth \u00a369m.<\/p>\n
