Police rescue abducted victim lured with fake job offer, arrest three notorious kidnappers and recover ransom in Anambra

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested three suspected notorious kidnappers and rescued an abducted victim in Nnobi, Idemili south  Local Government Area of the state. Spokesperson for the command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement on Friday, April 24, 2026. According to the PPRO, the suspects lured their victim, an electrician, to a location on the pretext of offering him a job.  Upon arrival, the suspects blindfolded him at gunpoint and held him captive.  Acting on credible intelligence, operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu in collaboration with members of the Agunechemba Vigilante Group, stormed a bush in Umuezeala Awuda, rescued the victim and arrested the suspects.  The team also recovered a ransom of N469,000 and one locally made Beretta pistol from the suspects.  “In the evening of 18th April 2026, Police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu in collaboration with members of the Agunechemba Vigilante Group, Nnobi, acting on a well-coordinated operation based on credible intelligence, stormed a bush located at Umuezeala Awuda Village, Nnobi, in Idemili south  Local Government Area, the statement read. “The team successfully arrested three armed suspects, rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered one locally made Beretta pistol and the ransom of Four Hundred and Sixty-Nine Thousand Naira (N469,000) from the suspects. “The three suspects arrested at the scene, all males include: Chidalu Obi 25 years, Chichebem Ojenigbo 26 years and Chikannechukwu Eze, 20 years respectively. “Preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects lured the victim, an electrician by profession, under the pretext of offering him a job.  “Upon arrival at the agreed location, the victim was forcefully blindfolded at gunpoint and taken to the bush at Umuezeala Awuda, where he was held captive. “Meanwhile, the suspects confessed to the crime and admitted to collecting a ransom of Four Hundred and Sixty-Nine Thousand Naira (N469,000), which was transferred into a SportyBet account belonging to one of the suspects, Chidalu Obi. The Anambra State Police Command reiterates its commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urges members of the public to continue to support the Police with timely and credible information.The post Police rescue abducted victim lured with fake job offer, arrest three notorious kidnappers and recover ransom in Anambra appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
