Jeff Stelling announces break from talkSPORT Breakfast show with on air message

Jeff Stelling is having a break from the talkSPORT Breakfast show.

But the good news for the millions of listeners it’s not for good – and no, it’s nothing to do with his health.

Stelling told listeners he is taking a break and will be back on the air soon

The host of the 6am-10am slot between Monday and Wednesday is simply taking an extended break, having packed a lot into his busy schedule and was quick to reassure listeners he is feeling fine.

At the end of Tuesday’s show, he said: “We’ve had so many texts [on today’s show] that I’m going to have to take a break, which is what I’m going to do for the next two or three weeks.

“I’m just going to chill out for a bit of rest and relaxation. I’ll see you when I’m back.”

Stelling joined talkSPORT in 2023, sharing Breakfast hosting with the iconic Alan Brazil.

This came after a near 30-year career at Sky where he became one of the most recognisable faces in sports media through his role on Soccer Saturday.

Alan Brazil on Breakfast

Stelling isn’t the only talkSPORT Breakfast host who has had a little time out recently.

Alan Brazil hit the headlines when he was unexpectedly taken off air during a Breakfast show on January 22.

He took a couple of weeks off to rest and recover.

Welcoming listeners to the show, he, of course, began with a joke before explaining what happened to him on air.

Brazil began: “I’m still alive! I’ve never had so many texts and emails asking: ‘Are you alright? Are you dead? Are you dying?

“Give us a break! Honestly.”

He added: “I had a big infection in my right ear and my left ear was blocked…I was sat here thinking I was going to fall off my chair.

“That’s the worst I’ve been, terrible.”

Big Al will still be on air during Stelling’s absence – he wouldn’t miss Cheltenham for the world.
